Synopsis: A poem

There was a lamb, born of a plant of cotton,
the stem’s leaves cradled the newborn fresh,
tender as the spring flowers on the limb.
The lamb was the brightest bud,
connected as one to the vegetable plant,
the vines supported its wobbling steps.
Milked it of its health but sharing the grass,
the lamb bore its grazing around a tiny pasture
of circles around its coexisting leafy stalk.
Over the years, the lambs and their vegetable patches disappeared.
The grassy pastures turned brown.
For the lamb ate with no bounds.
The lamb and their plants exist in whispers now. The beings are now two.
Stories float around tables in late-night cottages, warm with the lamb’s foraged wool.
In the homes nestled between the shared land of the animals and the farm.
